At the very least IKEA must have shrunk the market for fully assembled furniture, especially at the low end of the market. Any company that does want to play there is now doing it at substantially lower volume, negatively impacting unit economics. Where I live I can definitely still buy fully assembled luxury furniture. I’m hard pressed to think of anywhere that would sell you a new, assembled bookcase for under $500 though.
