I have personally found eccos (http://www.eccousa.com/ http://www.eccousa.com/) to be incredibly comfortable with lots of looks to choose from. In terms of geek cred, I buy one expensive but incredibly comfortable pair once every couple years and wear them out completely. Since I've started using a standing desk really comfortable shoes like eccos are a must.

Another vote for eccos here. Super comfortable (almost as comfy as sneakers to me) and reasonably dressy. Not a true "dress shoe", but I've taken to wearing them nearly every day. They're a great way to class up your typical "jeans + x" wardrobe.
