Related: eggs are stored and sold at room temperature in Germany. The first time I saw that kind of display, I thought some grocery manager had lost their mind. No, perfectly normal, and safe enough. Watch the refrigerate by dates on the carton.
- genewitch 5y agoIn the US eggs are washed prior to being packaged for sale, so they must be refrigerated. Elsewhere (and in the US with yard eggs/local eggs) i guess you wash before use? I wash yard eggs because they were on the ground.
- MandieD 5y agoI rinse the ones that I see stuff on, but otherwise don’t worry about it. But I still refrigerate them immediately after getting them home even if I think I’m going to use them quickly, because some habits are impossible to break.
- Dma54rhs 5y agoI put them in the fridge because then I know where to always find them :)
