- jmyeet 5y ago14 nations have been added to NATO since 1994 [1], most of them former Warsaw Pact countries. It's hotly debated but alleged that the US gave verbal assurances NATO wouldn't expand east in discussions about German reunification. - flavius29663 5y agoyou're forgetting that those countries are not mere pawns...they have their own will and decided to join NATO and EU out of own accord, precisely because they knew how dangerous Russia is.
- NicoJuicy 5y agoAnd Finland has a petition from the population that is requesting to join NATO. It sure looks like it's more a fault of Russia than NATO.
