      They can sell on coinbase? Fuck, Kyiv is full of cash exchangers doing millions of USD daily volumes (in USD, not Hryvna).

        OK, so there are two pathways here: A) USD in American bank => hryvnia in Ukrainian bank B) USD in American bank => Bitcoin in Coinbase => hryvnia in Ukrainian bank What regulations does that get around? Who could stop pathway A but not pathway B? If Russia has control of Ukrainian banks (which they don't yet), then they can stop both transactions. As usual with this kind of bullshit, the article doesn't explain: - where the censorship is coming from - how Bitcoin evades it

          It doesn’t get around any regulations. It still makes sense for Ukrainians to solicit cryptocurrency donations even if there is no regulatory reason to do so.
