- lazide 5y agoIt isn't that the whole world is energy deficient (in any real sense), it's that key modern economies have become reliant on specific sources, and interruptions in those sources make them very vulnerable to very expensive impacts. So they're blackmailable. And lots of cheap energy and global trade is almost like heroin for dealing with internal problems and social ills - no need to confront inefficiencies, figure out sane monetary policies, have hard conversations on hard topics, etc. So a lot of countries have pent up BS that will tear them apart when the heroin (I mean oil) stops flowing. International strongarm politics 101.
