Why Is It Difficult for Developers to Learn Another Programming Language?
- 999900000999 5y ago>Learning a language is difficult when there is little to no mapping with previous languages This is very similar to human language. Spanish is much easier than Japanese for English speakers. One of my biggest college missteps was not taking Spanish and getting my easy C. As for programing, I love high level stuff, like C# and JavaScript. I've never been able to grasp Rust or C++.
- simonblack 5y agoI found that using different programming languages takes a lots of immersion. Otherwise you find yourself (ferinstance) writing Python syntax but using C idioms. In other words, you aren't really programming in Python, but in Python-flavored C, and not using the proper idiosyncratic Python idioms which can only be absorbed by long experience in Python programming. (Am I being clear enough for you to understand?)
