I never really liked where I lived on the east coast. Going on vacations out West I always thought to myself “why can’t I just live here”. The culture back home, all my friends, hated the idea of me moving.
One time thought I asked them “do you like it here”? I never really got answers from them, it was mostly “yeah I guess” or “meh”. I get that people have roots, but flights are cheap and all these folks had the kind of jobs you could relocate with. Life is too short to live somewhere you think of as “meh”
- brudgers 5y agoIn the last few months I realized I am the fourth generation to move a long way from where they were born on both sides. There are people who are from somewhere and people who aren't.
- jimmaswell 5y agoI feel the same way. I had the time or my life on the west coast for a while until I got dragged back trying to help out my parents. I just can't take it anymore and I'm going back west as soon as I can.
- nkotov 5y agoI'm in a similar position. Grew up in Denver and then moved to Portland as an adult. Got married and moved to Charlotte. I don't like east coast living as much as I thought I would. Only benefit right now is that a lot of major cities (NYC, DC, Philly, Atlanta) are pretty close that I can actually drive to them in under a day. We're planning on moving back to the west coast soon.
