I was a big proponent of work from home two years ago, when it was a cushy option I had. I'd work from home when I'd want, then I'd come in when I felt like being social. It was great. On days I wasn't in the office, I wasn't in hours of video chats all day. I was at home, doing what needed to be done to drive the outcomes my employer wanted. Fast forward to 2022 when everyone is remote, and its nice, but not as nice. Now instead of working remotely, I'm meeting and working remotely. It's fine and I get paid for it. But it's not as fun. Also doesn't help that my annoying roommate also had to go into a remote job where he's in our living room everyday on video calls, talking loudly on the phone, and our shared space has become a dumping ground for all his work papers. I told him I didn't like it, but he needs to be constantly confronted and I gave up.
