This article would have you believe the CDC is scheming. But if you read most other Libertarian literature, they will also have you believe that the government is incompetent. So which is it? Is the CDC successfully conspiring to hide tons of data from the public with no whistleblowers and no leaks to the contrary? OR is the CDC an incompetent organization that can't be trusted to collect something as simple as a little disease data? If I had to guess, I would guess that the CDC is understaffed, and working hard to pump out this data as fast as they can, and it's just hard to comb through with the kind of granularity they'd like to get out. Because, you know, I've worked at a job and that's the kind of stuff that happens at work...
