Yes, government wastes money. The current USPS trucks (Long Life Vehicles aka LLVs) do have some very unique requirements. The tests the trucks were put through sounds insane (e.g. hauling 1 ton while thousands of miles driven on paved, gravel, cobblestoned, and pot-holed roads) with the life span of 30 years. I do not believe we got enough details to throw USPS under the truck (yes, intended).
