Russian troops have been stationed in Crimea since the fall of the Soviet Union. Their lease on the Russian military base there was extended by the 2010 Kharkiv Pact. They didn't invade - they were already there.

- olliej 5y agoCool to see Russian propaganda out in force tonight. Fuck off.
- StanislavPetrov 5y agoI didn't make any value judgement about the undisputed fact that Russian troops have been stationed in Crimea for the last 25 years, with the permission of the Ukrainians - I just pointed that fact out. Even when facts don't jive with your preferred narrative, they indeed remain facts, not propaganda.
- trymas 5y agoStationed Russian troops in Crimea (_de jure_ Ukraine) - does not mean they had the right to take over it (now _de facto_ a russian territory), hence russia invaded Ukraine 8 years ago.
- StanislavPetrov 5y agoSo by your standard, we invaded Guantanamo Bay, which is absurd. Its amazing how people lose their ability to think critically when emotions and propaganda are involved.
- olliej 5y agoif you have temporary permission to stay somewhere that doesn't give you the right the use force to take over the entire region. America doesn't get to deploy troops in Moscow and then say "this isn't an invasion, we were already here" because they have an embassy there. It also doesn't give you the right to shoot down passenger aircraft. So again, fuck off.
- StanislavPetrov 5y agoWhere did shooting down passenger aircraft come into your lie about an invasion? Unfortunately you are clearly another product of the US education system and the extremely effective US propaganda machine. So you can feel to fuck off and learn some history and vocabulary.
