- bananarchist 5y agoIt's unfortunate in discussions on handwriting that personal style is disregarded: such an opportunity for students to develop their capacity for self-expression! I exchange letters like the old fart I am, and all of my penpals utilize distinct cursive forms despite the fact that we all no doubt learned the same shapes and proportions in school. Some have very frantic strokes with long ascenders and descenders; some emphasize the curves and loops giving their sentences a bubbly look; and it seems everyone hates the "standard" majuscule "T", "F" and "Q" as I've seen several variants on that, including my own preferred (bastardized) versions. Block letters just aren't as evocative.
- coldblues 5y agoIn Eastern Europe cursive is still taught in school. I couldn't imagine myself keeping up with all the writing I have to do while writing in print. Cursive is faster.
