Reminds me of Facebook’s (in?)famous “Apple can’t handle our scale” thing: https://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/3m5n2n/facebook_engineer_ios_cant_handle_our_scale/ https://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/3m5n2n/faceboo... There was an HN thread about it, too, but I can’t find it.

I've talked with folks that have worked on their code. I think that it's unreasonable to expect a Lambo (or even a Yugo) to accommodate a 300Kg man.

I found this: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10275396 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10275396 But no comments, and no votes, so it must have been another thread, thereabouts. It was quite some years ago.

When Windows 10 Mobile was a thing, Microsoft had written a very competent Facebook application to go along with it. The original version was 18MB. The official Facebook-written version was nearly 300MB, with the bonus that it disabled the old app. I wrote about it then: https://medium.com/hackernoon/how-not-to-transition-an-app-between-companies-d703230d91a4 https://medium.com/hackernoon/how-not-to-transition-an-app-b...
