Sometimes it seems like everyone and their dog has impostor syndrome.
- marginalia_nu 5y agoYeah it's weird, right. I almost feel like an impostor for not feeling like an impostor.
- Trasmatta 5y agoI see people with less than 1 year of experience claiming imposter syndrome...I feel like the term has lost almost all meaning at that point. At some point what you're feeling is your actual inadequacies due to lack of experience. That's fine and normal, and a motivating factor to keep learning, not imposter syndrome...
- svachalek 5y agoI've seen the same... while touting themselves as an industry expert on social media. Overselling yourself on your resume, the interview, Twitter, industry conferences, etc., that's what an actual impostor is. I think another common case is simple privilege, connections brought you a little farther in life than skills would suggest. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's an actual phenomenon and it's difficult for the people who are dealing with it. But they're not being helped by the normalization of the idea. For most of us, you should be feeling like you worked hard to get where you are and totally deserve it.
