U.S. to be world's biggest LNG exporter in 2022 [0]
“Approval of additional LNG exports from Freeport LNG furthers this Administration’s commitment to promoting American energy, American jobs, and the American economy. Further, increased supplies of U.S. natural gas on the world market are critical to advancing clean energy and the energy security of our allies around the globe. … for molecules of U.S. freedom to be exported to the world” [1].
"The Iron Curtain of the 1940s and ‘50s was ostensibly designed to isolate Russia from Western Europe – to keep out Communist ideology and military penetration. Today’s sanctions regime is aimed inward, to prevent America’s NATO and other Western allies from opening up more trade and investment with Russia and China. The aim is not so much to isolate Russia and China as to hold these allies firmly within America’s own economic orbit." [2]

- gruez 5y ago>"The Iron Curtain of the 1940s and ‘50s was ostensibly designed to isolate Russia from Western Europe – to keep out Communist ideology and military penetration. Uhh what? If I remember my history class correctly, it was the east that built the berlin wall and had emigration restrictions, not the other way around. The wikipedia article confirms this. "The term symbolizes the efforts by the Soviet Union (USSR) to block itself and its satellite states from open contact with the West and its allied states. " >[2]: https://www.counterpunch.org/ https://www.counterpunch.org/ >"It has been described as left-wing.[3][4]" Oh, figures.
- diimdeep 5y ago>The Iron Curtain of the 1940s and ‘50s - here is more as a metaphor. >The Berlin Wall was a guarded concrete barrier that physically and ideologically divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989.
- gruez 5y agoFrom wikipedia: >It later became a term for the 7,000-kilometre-long (4,300 mi) physical barrier of fences, walls, minefields, and watchtowers that divided the "east" and "west". The Berlin Wall was also part of this physical barrier. Regardless of whether you think the term refers to the political/metaphorical barrier or the physical barrier, it seems weird to characterize it as "designed to isolate Russia from Western Europe – to keep out Communist ideology and military penetration", when it was the warsaw pact countries that were erecting physical barriers. It makes as much sense as saying that the Mexico-US border was designed to keep out american "ideology and military penetration", when really it's obviously designed to prevent illegal crossings from Mexico into the US.
