My local health authority has frustrated me to no end for holding back data "because it may be misinterpreted." This lack of transparency is dishonest and while there are factions out there who twist data to meet their ends, there are plenty of independent researchers who collect this data and make trustworthy analysis. Should there be a call for GAAP-like standards separating data collection, reporting, and interpretation to prevent single actors from manipulating it?
