Trump's social media app launches a year after his Twitter ban
- bediger4000 5y agoThis is an Associated Press article that npr.org is republishing. AP decided to go with Trump's own framing on this one: > he seeks a new digital stage to rally his supporters and fight Big Tech limits on speech This pre-supposes some exotic, horrible "Big Tech", where it's common knowledge that this exotic, horrible entity somehow limits speech in objectionable, illegal ways. I submit that this is a false framing. AP also doesn't seem to try to reconcile claims of "lack of censorship" with terms of service, which are apparently stricter than twitter's. The article also uncritically repeats what Republicans say: "After over A YEAR of muzzling by the Liberal Big Tech Tyrants: TRUMP. IS. BACK," wrote GOP House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy in a fundraising email appeal Monday. Facebook apparently boosts conservative opinions: https://www.pcmag.com/news/facebook-allegedly-bypassed-regulations-to-avoid-penalizing-conversative https://www.pcmag.com/news/facebook-allegedly-bypassed-regul... https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/facebook-papers-show-free-speech-hypocrisy-vietnam-n1282331 https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/facebook-papers-show-free-spee... https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/01/18/silicon-valley-tech-biden-democrats/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/01/18/silicon-v... How is Facebook "liberal" given all that? I'm as conservative as the next guy, but flying in the face of facts is too much.
