This site and its author are right up there with every other inflammatory and sensationalist rag that routinely gets flagged to oblivion here. Come on folks, examine the source like we're supposed to before jumping in to comment.
On the content of the article; why are we debating the validity of an argument over an advertisement posted on twitter? Surely we'd all agree we'd like content here to be better than that.
- dundarious 5y agoThe post almost entirely consists of quotations from the relevant tweets. This type of writeup is often called "blogspam", but it is an incredibly common tactic for actual news outlets, who just write up PR statements and wire agency items that were created from a company PR team (so laundered PR statements). I think if there is to be any legitimate criticism of the post, it is that not that it has a tabloid quality, but that because it is mostly quotation, it could be replaced with a link to the original tweets. But I find a text post or "blogspam" like this often provides useful and concise context. So if all this post does is provide brief but useful context, I think it's a not a good example at all for your complaint about the source. And it's not unwarranted for HN to find criticism of SV/Bitcoin bombast about how "we're different/new" to be interesting.
