Ask HN: What apps are teams using for irregular/spontaneous/frequent meetings?
- samstave 5y agoUhm, the phone? What you have in your title is... Call a mother hecker if thats what you need? Irregular/spontaneous/frequent? Uh yeah... thats just MEETINGS. Call a hecker if you need info? Ever hear of slack, or email, or SMS?
- vyrotek 5y agoHmm, this isn't a helpful response. See my comment above. We're a small team of devs working fulltime on a startup and we want an environment almost as if we were all in the same office. I was curious if there were tools that made it very easy to jump into a meeting/room. (Preferably without random meeting links)
- pipe01 5y agoTo be honest, discord seems like it fits your use case perfectly. It's sold as a gamer product, but I think it can be really useful for work too.

- vyrotek 5y agoHi HN. Our small and fully remote team is looking for a better way to quickly tap team members for spontaneous meetings throughout the day. We've tried several apps this year but everything has too much friction to join and little visibility. I'm aware not all teams want to operate this way, but we miss the days when a startup could all in the same room and it was easy to "turn around" and interact with your team. Our team moves quickly and we prefer to discuss things in person to hash them out. We've tried Google/Teams/Zoom and: https://around.co https://around.co https://usenoor.com https://usenoor.com https://presence.so https://presence.so https://pop.com https://pop.com https://tandem.chat https://tandem.chat Is anyone actually using things like https://gather.town https://gather.town ?
