Apple has a clear path to $1T in revenue by 2030
- pinephoneguy 5y agoThey effectively own the majority of personal computers in the US. They're able to extract rent from everyone this way and for most people there's nothing they can do about it. Once you're really dependent on one of Apple or Google's platforms leaving it is extremely challenging even for technically inclined people.
- nabla9 5y agoEU regulators are going to limit Apple in Europe. EU moves slowly. They start with something that is not effective, then improve. By 2030: - Apple can't run two-sided markets and take 30% markup within EU. Their banking, healthcare etc. must be separated from iPhones. - Chinese regulators will limit Apple in China the same way.
- missedthecue 5y agoYep. This is the problem. If I switch platforms, I have to start all over. If I stick with Google/iPhone, I just log into my account on the latest and greatest device, and voilà, all my stuff populates on the screen. Apps, conversations, albums, playlists, etc. I don't think there is an obvious way to legislate against this short of banning this feature, which is probably worse than the status quo.

Apps, conversations, albums, playlists, etc. I digress, but I wish it would work like that on Android. Its backup and restore is a hot mess, i.e. text messages or launcher settings/icon layout/links saved as launcher icons are not backed up at all.
- adra 5y agoJust remember that Apple was definitely going to die in the 90s and there's nothing that could possibly change the trajectory of technologies or companies. Written from my RIM BlackBerry
- _hypx 5y agoThere’s limit to everything. At some point, there won’t be any more markets for Apple to grow into. Plus the danger of spreading oneself too thin, ultimately leading to less focused product development.
