The ability to compile everything simply just from one file is amazingly powerful though, and makes sure its all isolated. With NixOS being able to define whole system with one file is also extremely powerful. I bet valve's steamos wouldve been better with nixos as base and flatpak for users to install apps with, and i say this as someome who has used arch for over 10 years. Nix makes development of complex systems easier.
Since the derivations can be cached, your builds will also be faster.
