Im going to call BS on an 8 year old using the term “public use” that’s such an abstract complicated thought. At best it was parroting.
- ColinWright 5y agoI work with kids aged 6 to 10 and labelled "Gifted and Talented", and plenty of them use language like that. They've been exposed to it in context, and know what it means. Most of these kids also know when to use it, and when not to use it. They know that there are adults around them who are intimidated when they use sophisticated language and sophisticated reasoning. I know plenty of teachers who deny that the kids will use language like that, and I think it's because those kids have learned as a survival mechanism to "play dumb" and behave to expectation. Maybe it was just parroting, but you can't know that.
