That is terrifying.
What are some strategies you could use to insulate yourself from this, even a little?
I've got two ideas off the top of my head...
1. Cash stashed somewhere.
2. A lawyer with a big retainer paid years in advance.
Both of those would be really painful to do. What are some better ideas?
- vorpalhex 5y agoAdvances expire, and your cash stash would likely be a crime (so even if you were innocent of the original crime, hiding assets from a warrant would be it's own charge). This is why we as a society need to stop civil forfeiture. It deprives the accused of the right of defense.
