I loved both the original dune games - Dune the Video game with its mix of story and adventure and light strategy; and of course the seminal Dune II.
But it's 2022 and I'm not 14 years old anymore and time is a precious resource. I'm not sure I'm up for a game where all the levels are monotone barren orange desert. I think that's partially what killed homeworld deserts of kharak for me, and this game looks like its doubling or even trippling in on it.
In 1992, background of orange and gray was just fine; we focused on the tactical layer of units and obstacles. In that sense, the low graphics of Dune II were an advantage. Here, the desert is clearly quite lovingly made and vies for attention... but that attention is really not rewarded - even in a 2 minute trailer, I got bored and started forwarding, which may be an ominous sign. I guess we'll see if gameplay mechanics sufficiently compensate.
That being said... I love the story, world, atmosphere of Dune franchise in general - so here's hoping! :-)
