It's years and years since I used Windows for the last time, but I remember that at the time the control panel had:
- parts from win8
- parts from win7
- parts from something that resembled winXP
- some obscure settings that felt unchanged since win2k
That was it for me, never logged into Windows since, don't know if it got better or worse.
- sofixa 5y agoIt's still like that in Windows 10, there are menus that look like they date from Windows 95/98 ( device manager comes to mind), and there's the new Settings thing ( the one where you can only have a single instance of it).
- mrjin 5y agoWindows 10 control panel/settings app is FUBAR. In some versions, tasks as simple as change ip address etc. became mission impossible. There are two sets of UI, neither is working...
- falcolas 5y agoWhat's telling to me is how often I have to go back to the Win98 styled windows... and how much I prefer them to the newer Settings window.
- jbverschoor 5y agoI think perhaps DOS is still there
- chrismorgan 5y agoA few years ago Windows 10 still had a Windows 3.11 file picker deep in the control panel databases stuff (ODBC, &c.), I think it was. It’s probably still there.
- tonyedgecombe 5y agoI think adding printer drivers still has that same dialog.
- einr 5y agoAdding printer drivers manually with the "Have Disk..." option still brings up a dialog box with an icon of a floppy disk that defaults to a path of A:\.
