For some reason I have mixed feelings about this. I appreciate the React paradigm for UI development. It simplifies and facilitates a lot of complex interactions. However, being based on RN, it means a JS Interpreter is running in the background. Compared to native compiled binaries JS uses much more RAM. I would like the core OS applications to be written in the most efficient manner as possible. But I guess very few programmers want to manually manage memory these days.
- skavi 5y agoDeclarative UI doesn’t have to be inefficient. SwiftUI is fast and IMO nicer to use than React. There are a few declarative UI frameworks in Rust as well (Druid is very nice).
