AI clearly a national security issue and I think big funding for both defense and science purposes needs to happen. But wouldn't it be better for govt to act like a VC and fund tons of little startups and crowd source the new ideas instead of funding big-tech (who already have tons of cash from existing revenue streams), or AI shops that are already VC backed?
