Elon Musk brings up Adolph Hitler
- IanDrake 5y ago
- version_five 5y agoI don't agree with him posting that (even if JT is demonstrably a dictator). But as someone famous said, "What's the point of having 'fuck you' money if you cant say 'fuck you'?". Why should he care what anyone thinks really, it's an immature meme but let's get over ourselves and see it as that (and focus on the truth underneath it about what is happening in Canada), not feign indignation over the obviously unintended symbolism of it Edit: should add that Trudeau himself accused another MP of standing with Nazis for questioning the governments behavior, and various "white supremacy" allegations have been seriously leveled at anyone against covid restrictions in canada. These are not memes, they are people seriously equating their political opponents with something horrible to try and dehumanize them
- manuelabeledo 5y agoSo rich people should be allowed to say whatever they want? That's a hot take. > and focus on the truth underneath it about what is happening in Canada You mean that being free doesn't mean being free from consequences?
- lowkey 5y ago> So rich people should be allowed to say whatever they want? That's a hot take. I don't think it is limited to rich people, but yes, that's how freedom of speech works. If you're not committing fraud, say by yelling fire in a crowded building, you do have the right to say whatever you want. Freedom of speech is meaningless unless you get to say things that others don't want you to say. Plenty of less wealthy folks are drawing the same analogy on Twitter. Currently #BlackFacedHitler is one of the top trending hashtags in the world. If Justin Trudeau doesn't like being compared to a dictator, maybe he should stop acting like one?
- manuelabeledo 5y ago> I don't think it is limited to rich people, but yes, that's how freedom of speech works. The original comment draws a parallel between having "fuck you money" and the right to say whatever you want. > If Justin Trudeau doesn't like being compared to a dictator, maybe he should stop acting like one? Freedom of speech doesn't free you from consequences. Disrupting a whole city and holding its citizens hostages, does have consequences, unfortunately. Because your freedom to be an ass, is not more important than other people's freedoms to live.
- dane-pgp 5y ago> Trudeau himself accused another MP of standing with Nazis He's really damaging political discourse by taking such a simplistic view of the world. How many Nazi flags do there have to be in a crowd of 8000 people in order to accuse everyone there of supporting Nazism? Will any protest (no matter how peaceful) ever be taken seriously again if all it takes is a few people on the opposite political side to turn up and wave some "false flags" to give the government an excuse to claim that all the protesters are extremists who only understand force? What if the flags showed the hammer and sickle (representing another regime which committed atrocities), or the black flag of anarchism, or the flag of an Islamic dictatorship? A government wouldn't even have to go to the trouble of smashing the window of a cop car or a local business in order to invoke "emergency" powers. Perhaps the most short-sighted aspect of Trudeau's dirty political tactic is that his accusations work even better against himself. Consider this story from 2012: "Trudeau was criticized earlier this month by some Jewish groups and media outlets for agreeing to address the [Muslim] conference because of allegations of a link between one of its sponsors, IRFAN-Canada, and the militant group Hamas." https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeau-defies-critics-in-muslim-conference-speech-1.1150769 https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeau-defies-critics-in-m...
- Comevius 5y agoHe is constantly engaged in stock manipulation, so now governments are bad because they are the only ones who can hold him accountable. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, so consequences are not in his dictionary. That's fitting, the world's richest person is a manchild. Tells you everything about the age we are living.
- lowkey 5y agoI can see you are not a fan of Elon Musk but I don't really follow your logic. His meme about Justin Trudeau clearly indicated he was not a fan of the government of Canada suspending civil liberties and freezing the bank accounts of Canadian citizens who disagree with Trudeau's policies. I don't see any indication that he thinks the Canadian government is bad because they are able to hold him accountable. Am I missing something?
