Dell’s Bold Idea: A Laptop You Can Repair
- malfist 5y ago"Dell's Bold Idea"? Are they sure they're not thinking of Framework's bold idea?
- r_hoods_ghost 5y agoI genuinely don't get these posts or the rhapsodies around framework. My 2012 HP 8570w elitebook is completely repairable and still going strong. The cheap Acer gaming laptop I've got has replaceable ram, ssd, NVME and you can even easily replace the screen. Even my boring HP G7 laptop is easy to get into and repair. I just think so much of the press and HN readers instinctively waste money on Mac's or the none Mac super thin equivalents that they don't realise repairable laptops from mainstream manufacturers never went away.
- t-3 5y agoDell, it's too late. You've screwed over too many customers with garbage laptops, copycatting Framework won't bring us back. I genuinely wish ill upon your company. I want your stock price to hit zero and your executives to be blacklisted in the industry. Also, whoever designed the backlight on this keyboard that makes it harder to read the letters with it on, should never work again, in any field outside fast food.
