Wearing a helmet also causes cars to overtake closer and less considerate. Blaming the cyclist always happens in these cases, even if it's clearly the drivers (or whoever opened the door) fault. I think Sweden just implement a law making it mandatory to open the door with the hand opposite to the door, causing you to turn and hopefully preventing these things. Still, that's manslaughter in my opinion, and I hate people blaming the cyclists, no matter the circumstances, they could have just as well died wearing a helmet.
