My grandfather was a US army tank commander who was part of the Okinawa invasion prior to the end of the war. As much as I’d like to criticize the atomic bomb, I probably wouldn’t be here had it not been used. My grandfather would have been required to continue the fight through the Japanese home islands, and likely perished.
