So in essence I think that plant meat will replace meat, no need to "cultivate" it
- barbazoo 5y agoEven though I don't know McPlant it looks like other veggie patties and I fully agree. They fully replaced meat patties for me. Do they taste like meat, no, but who cares, burgers and hot dogs are mostly about condiments and toppings anyway. Do people really care? The flavor profile of many veggie patties is so much more complex than any meat patty I've ever had, without any of the ethical or environmental problems that comes with meat. That's why I wonder why were even bothering with lab grown meat instead of going the plant based route.
- collaborative 5y agoIndeed. The richness of flavor of McPlants just blows my mind
- charcircuit 5y agoI don't put condiments or toppings on my hotdogs and hamburgers.
- barbazoo 5y agoI highly recommend it.
- rootusrootus 5y ago> burgers and hot dogs are mostly about condiments and toppings anyway For hot dogs, yes. The meat is pretty gross, you want a lot of condiments. Burgers, though, if you need condiments then you need to take a step back and reconsider how you're cooking the beef. That is far and away the dominant flavor for any good hamburger.
- barbazoo 5y agoI very respectfully disagree. You got your sauteed onions, mushrooms, maybe a blue cheese. Nice tomato slices and some juicy greens and then you get into sauces. That plus whatever the patty comes with - flavor explosion. No need for whatever the beef is trying to contribute.
- micromacrofoot 5y agoBeyond Beef is the best that's widely available. I find it quite good, but I haven't eaten meat for 20 years so my taste could certainly be off. If you haven't tried it in a couple of years, maybe give it another shot, they've made some incremental improvements. The advancement of vegetarian foods and meat-likes over the past 5 years have been incredible. At least in my area vegetarianism has become common enough that if I'm invited over to someone's BBQ they'll usually have a vegetarian option already on hand.
- mason55 5y agoI find a lot of the meat substitutes to be delicious but to me the problem is the nutritional content. A Beyond patty is a great substitute for a greasy hamburger. But There’s nothing that I’m aware that can substitute for lean meat like chicken or fish. Seitan isn’t too bad but beyond that it’s really nothing.
- girvo 5y agoHere in Australia The Meet Co's "chicken" strips are fantastic for doing things like Thai Basil Chili Chicken and so on. Even Birdseye's product is pretty fantastic, surprisingly enough.
- tasty_freeze 5y agoQuorn's chicken is excellent tasting. The nutritional information below is not complete, but what is shown isn't bad: https://www.quorn.us/products/quorn-meatless-chicken-pieces https://www.quorn.us/products/quorn-meatless-chicken-pieces
