I read his Holidays in Hell when it first came out and it had me convulsed with laughter. International travel was still fresh to me and he seemed to do a perfect job of highlighting the oddities of some cultures I had experienced.
Coming back to the book recently, I found it sophomoric and annoying. Does that mean I've become more sophisticated and empathetic or just lost my sense of humor? I don't know.
