One thing I think that SpaceX proves is that money is not the only solution to all problems. In the pure world of theory of government spending, all producers are as good as any other, everyone is replaceable by everyone, there are no great men. The wild success of SpaceX is a great example of how this is not actually the case. Billions spent anywhere else would hardly do anything and would not be met with criticism of the failed contractors tasked with carrying out the job. Instead, there would mearly be calls for more money and time and that the same results would have been achieved with any other contractor.
