I'll clarify that I think “afloat” was the wrong choice of word; “lean” is probably a better one. I (generally) am pretty good about killing off subscriptions that I'm not using (I killed one yesterday, gitpod.io because I just haven't been able to use it much); I think this post came more out of a sense that subscriptions are taking over the world. There are numerous services that are good services, that I would use, but it's _because_ it would be irresponsible to spend $200+/mo on subscriptions that I don't subscribe.
