While PHP’s new JIT compiler won’t bring any significant performance benefits to real apps such as WordPress, it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out in actual usage. That seems like an interesting decision. Would have been nice to have 8.1 (and 8.0?) with and without JIT. So far some of the benchmarks I've seen suggest that the JIT can provide good value, but a bunch of those have been more synthetic than real-world.

  Surprising how many wordpress sites are still on <= 5.6

    That's true and a lot of sites are running on outdated (read very old) WP versions.
