I tried it once just out of curiosity. They wrapped a lot of the stuff around my case, to the point that I spent a few minutes getting it off afterwards. Which I suspect is the point. A lock can be removed in a second. Then just quickly open, scan for anything valuable, close. Removing the wrapping is a considerable effort, takes time, and leaves a huge heap of plastic that may cause somebody to ask questions. So at least on the metric of that locks are there just to make your stuff look more bothersome to get into than the next person's, I'd say the plastic does amazingly well.
