Making ‘Dinobabies’ Extinct: IBM’s Push for a Younger Work Force
- simonblack 5y agoDon't throw the 'babies' out with the bathwater. Those 'babies' have lots and lots of company culture under their belts and are experts in what the company's aims and beliefs are. Many banks threw out their older autonomous 'branch managers' about 20-30 years ago because they were introducing the new, computerised, centralised-management that was supposedly more efficient back in the 90s. The trouble was that those branch-managers knew how the company ticked, what worked for the company and what didn't. When things started going to shit, the banks thought they could could just call those discarded branch-managers back in. But they'd worked though their difficult jobless time and re-arranged their lives and weren't going to unarrange their lives for the convenience of the banks that had shafted them. When will companies get it through their thick skulls that their staff is their greatest asset?
