Ask HN: New TLD released, all good names taken
Today the .day domain released, and immediately all the "good" names were taken.
Any word that ends in -day and has a meaning, is already taken, probably with the intention of reselling them later for more.
Is this the future of the web? Is there no better way to work with domains?
- delirehberi 5y agoI hate this domain hunters too. But do not need worry, names are not much important anymore. Make your project and give a unrelated name. Problem resolving projects wins even not having good names.
- mdrzn 5y agodooms.day, sun.day, fun.day, week.day, every.day, holi.day, yester.day, work.day, may.day, to.day.. I doubt every single one of them will be turned into a project.
- cybarDOTlive 5y agoProbably none of them will, these squatters make me sick.
- vmoore 5y ago> these squatters make me sick That's only validating them. The whole idea behind the word 'domain' is that you own it. If they get scooped up by 'squatters' then they have every right to use that domain for whatever reason. I'm sure they scoff at all your 'side projects' that use cute domains too.
- cybarDOTlive 5y agohow does making fun of these parasites "validate" them? and who cares? they suck, everyone knows they suck. that's what PARASITES DO. "I don't care that they stole my idea. I care that they don't have any of their own."
