Weeks after announcing it, Nvidia has gone silent on its flagship RTX 3090 Ti
- NoPicklez 5y agoGiven the enormous delays to the 30xx series cards for what has been around 1.5 years now. It's surprised me that Nvidia have released so many different variants of a particular series of card, especially if the performance differences have been marginal. Given the delays due to COVID it feels like we have been frozen in time with the 30 series cards. People still trying to get their hands on them and paying way too much. I wonder if the next series of cards will struggle to sell given the hell that some people have been through with this series and how out of pocket some have been.
- 0ldskool 5y agoWell usually isn't it just 1 or 2 chips that get manufactured and binned differently? The release of a new card is just a release of previously manufactured chips that were being held until there was a sufficient supply of that quality/binning level? Manfacturing of different boards is probably pretty easy since PCB manufacturing is a well solved & optimized problem.
