Dating app Fluttr aims to beat the ‘Tinder swindlers’ with biometric ID
- harles 5y agoI wonder how much this will cost consumers - probably a lot more than the $100m in annual fraud.
- altairprime 5y ago> Fluttr has partnered with digital verification firm Yoti, which has clients including the NHS, Post Office and National Union of Students, to ensure all would-be daters are providing the correct personal details matched to government-issued documents. Dating is interesting and catches the human eye for a lot of reasons, but the hidden story here is about Yoti, who is bridging the gap between government identities and third-party identities. There an interesting highlight in Yoti’s marketing copy that suggests that your data is device-encrypted such that it can’t be accessed or aggregated, which is the sort of thing I’ve been hoping to see with identity verification apps: > Our systems are built in a way that means we cannot mine or sell your data to third parties. Once we’ve completed our security checks, we can’t access any of your personal details. We can’t send your details to a business or individual until you choose to send them. — https://www.yoti.com/personal/ https://www.yoti.com/personal/ Yoti has been posted to HN twice previously, with zero comments total in both cases, three years ago. (The Algolia search required a great many exclusions to confirm that, highlighting the issues with naming a business Y-vowel-consonant-vowel.) https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=false&query=yoti%20-yeti%20-yoga%20-yogi%20-yori%20-yota%20-yoto%20-youi%20-yotk%20-ybti%20-yodi%20-yati%20-yosi%20-yozi%20-yoni%20-yobi%20-yomi%20-noti%20-moti%20-yoi%20-voti&sort=byPopularity&type=story https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=false&qu...
