- tamaharbor 5y agoWould ‘equality’ mean more Hispanic commercial actors, or perhaps reducing the number of NFL players from ~70% to ~13%?
- tamaharbor 5y agoOops… …black players from ~70% to ~13%.
- pmdulaney 5y agoThe reddit page has a lot of discussion about Google's cameras that photograph dark skins better. It is an interesting problem. One person makes a comment to the effect, "Yeah, but they only show how well it works on light-skinned people!" To which someone else answered (in essence): "They appear light-skinned because of the new Google processing!" It suggests the following question: Is Google merely correcting a long-standing shortcoming of cell phone cameras and cameras in general? Or is it also an improvement on how even the human visual system works? For some races, it is hard to distinguish -- even with one's own eyes -- the difference between pupil and iris; they are nearly the same color. I would not be surprised if that is a "problem" that Google tackles next.
