Would you mind elaborating on why you chose to make the disclosure? It puzzles me because I don't see how it's relevant to the rest of the comment.

- SilasX 5y agoSure, after you justify why you'd object to someone disclosing more bias than they have to. (And my comment throttling lets up.)
- endorphine 5y agoI'm not objecting; this was an honest question.
- SilasX 5y agoSo is mine. (And you can replace "object" with "find questionable or needing justification".)
- endorphine 5y agoI don't believe it "needs justification" and I already explained why I'm wondering: because I can't see how it's related to the rest of the comment.
- SilasX 5y agoIt "needs justification" because I erred on the side of greater rather than lesser disclosure when I'm commenting about things I have holdings in, in which case there's always a danger that one will "talk their book" (promote the things that benefit them financially). True, that dyanmic may not be happening here, but (see previous comment) it is also a courtesy to err on the side of over-disclosing rather than under-disclosing. Your comments are a slightly-obfuscated version of "wh... why would you erase the chalkboard after your class is over? That spends time that doesn't personally benefit you. Since we have janitors for that, you don't really need to." My immediate reaction would be, "just accept the courtesy, dude". And here -- just accept the transparency. Don't make me have to justify it.
