- Panino 5y agoBefore reading the article I was hoping the chip would do Curve25519 operations or ChaCha20-Poly1305, but no, it does sha256 for bitcoin mining. sigh
- mrkramer 5y agoWhere is Curve25519 or ChaCha20-Poly1305 used on the massive and exhaustive scale as SHA-256 cryptocurrency mining is? SSL? According to Curve25519/Poly1305 creator's research[0] Poly1305 is already extremely high speed on chips. Software code can always be optimized to run faster and more efficient, you don't need to remake the hardware unless hardware and software operations are using billions of dollars of electricity as BTC mining is.
