Forgive my pessimism, but I think this essay was less about making people think and more about providing some fluff between ads. But I'll bite... FP is not the new OO. FP is as old as time, because fundamental truths (and maths) are pure functions. And you cannot use any of the other "paradigms" without ultimately building atop of pure functions. Maybe you're not writing the pure functions, but your base libraries (and compilers) have them.
