To Match The Greats, Don’t Follow in Their Footsteps
- jleyank 5y agoOhtani. Right team, wrong player vs. Ruth. And the article feels wrong for me…. Yeah, if you want to be known cuz you’re best at some new, random thing study marketing. Following in the footsteps of the greats to find their limits and then extending their work to fix their limits/bad assumptions is where true fame will come. Hard problems: room temp superconductors, battery design and recycling, carbon capture, gene therapy, Alzheimer’s, …. There’s lots of scientific/medical problems begging for a solution and the rewards for some of these are damn near infinite. Imagine the heat reduction in chips or restoring the mind of those with dementia. Or, for all of the live forever crowd, imagine if it’s possible to extend dna teleomers without causing cancer. Or to be able to safely manipulate stem cells or the immune system. Or safe, efficient fuel cells. But yeah, it’s easier to be known cuz your known. Fake it ‘till you make it, and don’t forget the black turtleneck.
