Refers to https://tweetnacl.cr.yp.to/ https://tweetnacl.cr.yp.to/:
> TweetNaCl is the world's first auditable high-security cryptographic library. TweetNaCl fits into just 100 tweets while supporting all 25 of the C NaCl functions used by applications. TweetNaCl is a self-contained public-domain C library, so it can easily be integrated into applications.
OT: cr.yp.to is a really cool domainname
- zinekeller 5y agoJust so you know, Mr. Bernstein (DJB) (the one operating the website) deserves that domain: he's the one who designed ChaCha20 and also pivotal in changing the classification of encryption from munition (yes, that's how it was) to an ubiquitous protection in the digital domain.
- throwaway81523 5y agoDJB is responsible for so much of today's crypto technology that people have raised fears of a "DJB monoculture". He's that influential. Chacha20, Ed25519, SipHash, and NaCl are all things he's had a hand in, plus tons of ahead-of-its-time software that sadly isn't used much any more (see http://thedjbway.b0llix.net/index.html http://thedjbway.b0llix.net/index.html as thedjbway.org is now domain squatted).

LWN: https://lwn.net/Articles/681615/ https://lwn.net/Articles/681615/ Funnily it was Peter Gutmann who wrote this, who also has a big influence in cryptography (on the other hand, he was the creator of the widely-misunderstood "Gutmann method" in erasing disks to the point that he himself now recommends just destroying the disks if you're that paranoid).
- RcouF1uZ4gsC 5y agoIn some way, you can view crypto and going from. Ron Rivest monoculture(RSA, RC4, MD5) to a DJB monoculture. Meanwhile the NIST seems intent on a Joan Daemen monoculture ( AES, SHA-3)
