Same here, house was built around 1900 and they really never intended you to run anything more than power... Basically impossible to get anything else through without tearing up the flooring/wall, and the rooms are askew too.
Damaged a CAT-8 a little while ago, trying to pull it into my office.
- collegeburner 5y agoWhy spend on cat8? You have that bandwidth on a home connection? Or a nas capable of serving it?
- din-9 5y agoGiven the effort required to put cabling in e.g. mine is underneath plaster, future proofing it as best you can could save aggravation in the kind of timeframe that people live in houses for.
- justsomehnguy 5y ago> future proofing The best future proofing thing you can do in a living house is lay down at least x2 cable per drop.
- goatsi 5y agoThe best future proofing is running a conduit, not just copper.
- meibo 5y agoIt wasn't that much more expensive and I knew that it was going to be such a pain that I was happy to do it once and future-proof. Probably won't max it out in my lifetime, but it's nice to have options.
