‘I would’ve left’: TikToker says Airbnb host charged them for air
- WalterGR 5y agoConditioning. Air conditioning.
- rasz 5y agoThats when you call local authorities and start complaining about your "hotel accommodations" in a private residence. >90% of airbnb is illegal off the books, and one with something like this is closer to 100%.
- serverlessmom 5y agoIt's really ridiculous to me because when Airbnb was first a thing I actually really liked using them. It felt like the prices were more reasonable and the hosts were generally a lot more welcoming. Recently this has really seemed to change. This may be in part because I live in a popular vacation area but the prices of an Airbnb on the coast for instance are super expensive and generally lacking in amenities. Recently I canceled an Airbnb in Seattle Washington because it was close to $250 a night and after I booked my stay I was emailed an extensive list of rules about the property. Generally I'm pretty cool with whatever the host wants, it is their house and I want to respectful. However one thing that really stuck out to me was that the host made a point of saying that if you stained any of the face washing towels that you would be charged $40 a washcloth which just felt ridiculous to me after the already high price per night.
- poisonborz 5y agoIt's pretty clear from the article that the guest is charged for the electricity usage here, in contrast to the the clickbait title. In respect to the energy price crisis that the EU is currently facing, and consequently the abruptly rising utility prices, I find this host behavior to be acceptable - on the condition that this is clearly stated on the property description.
